It has now been widely accepted that the Gas Distribution Networks Public Corporation (DEDA) plays the leading role in the new energy landscape currently formed in our country.
DEDA develops gas distribution infrastructure in a large number of cities across continental Greece, all the way from northeastern Evros to southwestern Ilia, thus making a comfortably affordable and clean form of energy available to thousands of people and businesses.
Our company's projects contribute towards the country’s energy upgrade, in two distinctive but equally important ways: first, they exhibit a strong growth sign, by significantly strengthening the national economy and employment, whereas at the same time, they lead the way towards a greener future based on the goals set by the European Green Agreement and the National Energy and Climate Plan. DEDA methodically works for the future, as it is the first natural gas distribution operator in Greece that builds green networks ready to distribute biomethane and biohydrogen in a mixture with existing natural gas.
In particular, DEDA’s Development Program 2021-2025 for the next five years, features investments in excess of 300 million € for projects that provide for the development of gas distribution infrastructure in 34 cities throughout Greece. In this context, a total of 1,860 km of network will be laid and more than 68,000 consumer connections of all categories (domestic, commercial, industrial) will be built.
DEDA’s development projects will commence during the first half of 2021 in the Regions of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace, Central Macedonia and Central Greece, with their completion scheduled for the end of 2023. The projects in the Regions of Western Macedonia, Western Greece and Epirus will follow, in the second half of 2021 and 2022.
These construction works comprise the largest natural gas distribution networks expansion project, currently running in Europe, implemented with DEDA’s own funds, a low interest loan and grants through the 2014-2020 NSRF through the Business Programs of the aforementioned Regions. In fact, our company's planning extends up to 2036 with investments of over half a billion euros.
The arrival of natural gas presents various advantages for the greek province; predominantly there will be a significant reduction of the energy cost for domestic consumers, businesses and industry, thus annihilating the social phenomenon of energy poverty. In addition, all participating cities will be environmentally benefited and local economies will be stimulated through new job vacancies.
In alignment with the great development effort of our country, DEDA stamps its own mark with projects that upgrade life quality, respect the environment and are a springboard for a powerful and fair development for all.
